The Family Ice Center, located just north of Portland in Falmouth, is Southern Maine’s premier year round ice skating arena and community center.

We offer a full complement skating based programs that include ice hockey, learn to skate, figure skating, speed skating, as well as recreational skating. From December through February we invite you to enjoy Maine’s only refrigerated outdoor skating surface, Lee Twombly Pond.

Indoor Skating

Public Skating fee is $5 per person (children 5 & under skate free) rentals are only $2. Check out their Learn to Skate programs!

Outdoor Skating

Family Ice Center is home to Northern New England’s only artificially refrigerated outdoor skating venue. The Lee Twombly Outdoor Skating Center is open for public skating from late December through February from 10am-10pm daily. Come check out what AAA Magazine recently named one of the top places to skate outdoors in the country!

Serving Those In Need Thru Skating

Through our skating based community out-reach program and scholarship fund, Opportunity Skate, we offer ice time, equipment and instruction at no charge to disadvantaged children, senior citizens, teens at risk and to programs that support the mentally and physically challenged sector of our community. The program presently serves over 2,250 individuals and 49 different community support organizations each year and donations are always needed to support our efforts to assist those who truly need a helping hand. Opportunity Skate helps build character, self-esteem and a sense of self-worth thru skating to all who participate and is the corner stone of our facility mission. We are serving the community thru skating one stride and dollar at a time. Click here to make a donation.
