To celebrate children and bring joy to the community, the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine will be filled with music, art, stories and more, all FREE and open to the public this Friday, December 7, 2018 from 10:00am-8:00pm!
The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine is excited to announce the 6th annual Joyful Children’s Day! Joyful Children’s Day is a special celebration of children and families for the Maine community. This year’s Joyful Children’s Day is generously made possible with the partnership of two Maine organizations: Maine Association for the Education of Young Children and Raising Readers.
Free admission on Joyful Children’s Day provides ALL families with access to a special place for learning and play. Special highlights this year include an all-day Read-a-Thon. The Read-a-Thon goal is to fill the day with non-stop reading – over 100 stories over the course of 9 hours! In addition to non-stop reading, Joyful Children’s Day will also feature non-stop art; creating, crafting, and exploring for all ages will be led by volunteers, most of them early childhood educators from the community.
The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine invites the community to honor children everywhere by celebrating Joyful Children’s Day.
About the Event
The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine created Joyful Children’s Day to lift community spirits in the wake of last year’s tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The first Joyful Children’s Day, held on January 4th 2013, drew more than 1,000 visitors and was supported by the work of more than 30 volunteers, as well as local businesses who donated snacks and beverages. In addition to the Museum & Theatre’s own staff members, who coordinate the events and offer programming, a diverse group of volunteers has emerged, ready to share unique talents and skills.
