To celebrate their eighth season farming on Broadturn Road, the folks at Broadturn Farm are having an open farm day on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 1-4 pm.
The farm will be open to all visitors, and will have live traditional music, food, May Pole dancing, and crafts for children. This is a wonderful opportunity to welcome spring while exploring the largest organic farm in southern Maine.
Over the last 8 years Broadturn Farm has gone from a vacant piece of farmland at the end of a traditional farming lineage, to a revitalized community-centered organic farm with a novel approach to tenancy and ownership. In addition to a thriving CSA business with both produce and flower shares, Broadturn Farm also hosts a wide array of educational programs, including summer camps, preschool classes, and homesteading workshops.
