Free “Play Our Way: Sensory Saturday” Autism Program at the Children’s Museum 3/18!

Experience the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine during a low-key, inclusive playtime for children with sensory integration challenges.
This Saturday, play in their exhibits at a quiet time and meet other families from the community. Make a Valentine for someone special, upstairs in the Explore Some More Room.
This is a perfect time for families affected by Autism, Down syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder, or other challenges to experience the Museum & Theatre. Our staff will make special adjustments to our normal exhibit lighting and sound design; noise-reducing headphones will be available. A limited number of visitors will be admitted to ensure a calm and welcoming play environment.

What to expect:
Upon arrival, visitors will be asked to check in at the front desk. At check-in, we request an adult’s email address, ages of children attending, and family zip code. Visitors may also receive a hand stamp (optional). We will have a limited supply of noise reducing headphones available in the lobby to borrow (please return at the conclusion of the playtime). Our staff has made slight adjustments to the exhibit lighting by adding light-reducing filters to the fluorescent ceiling lights. Visit our Parking Tips page for helpful parking information and printable parking map.

This event is FREE thanks to our long-time partner WEX! Please RSVP to Lily O’Brien at lily@kitetails.org or call (207) 828-1234 ext. 227.
