Woah! This is a boredom buster. You’re welcome. Except that I can’t take any of the credit at all. This one is all race director Jen Pincus and the C/NY Kids Triathlon’s doing. April Staycation looks better and better in our house.
Backstory
If you registered, you already know. If you were contemplating signing up before the world got wonky, you may have expected the following message… for the health and safety of our triathlon community, the 2020 Cumberland-NY Kids Triathlon has been canceled. We know 2021’s event will be even bigger and better! However not all is lost. Your child(ren) are invited to to participate in a VIRTUAL duathlon!
Virtual Duathlon Courses and Guidelines
The Virtual Duathlon is currently going on now through May 10, 2020. During this time, in accordance with social distancing guidelines (no groups, please!), we encourage you to take your child or children outside for a back-to-back bike and run (in either order!), anywhere they can find safe space to do so.
Grades K-4: Your child should bike one mile and run ½ mile.
Grades 5-7: Your child should bike two miles and run one mile.
Side note: Children do NOT need to be registered for the 2020 Cumberland-NY Kids Triathlon to participate.

We hope your son and daughter will join us for this fun event. Our goal, as always, is to encourage kids to challenge themselves to TRI their hardest. One final reminder: THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO BE A GROUP ACTIVITY. SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDANCE MUST BE FOLLOWED BY ALL THOSE WHO PARTICIPATE IN THIS VIRTUAL EVENT.
