Celebrate your love of trains by joining us for Train Days!  The museum will be a hub of activity as we kick-off the start of our operating season. Children can participate in our new Junior Engineer program. Those who complete the program will receive an Engineer’s cap and certificate of completion.

This will be a fun-filled way to enjoy the museum and learn more about train operations.

About the Museum
The Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad is dedicated to the preservation and operation of Maine’s two foot gauge railway equipment for the education and enjoyment of the public. The museum features exhibits relating to Maine’s narrow gauge railway history, several historic rail cars, activities for children, and a unique gift shop. Visitors may tour the museum only or can purchase a train ticket which includes both a self-guided tour of the museum and a scenic waterfront train ride.

Visitors should plan approximately 1.5 hours for a visit. The train ride lasts approximately 40 minutes and travels 1.5 miles (3 miles round trip) along the scenic Eastern Promenade of Casco Bay. Train crew and/or museum docents are available to provide historical information aboard the ride. Trains operates rain or shine. Both open air cars and enclosed cars are available depending on the season. Pets are welcome provided they are on a leash and well-behaved. Before or after your train ride, be sure to visit the museum to learn more about the organization. The Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad is open from May through October and seasonally for events.
