April School Vacation Family Days– fun all week at the PMA!

April School Vacation Week at the PMA is all about learning and experiencing art through game-playing. Choose from their array of interactive prompts and non-competitive games, then head to the galleries to experience the art like you never have before.

Most games are best for ages 7-15 years and caregivers, but they will also provide simple color and shape activities for the youngest art-loving visitors (2+ years).

Sample games include:

Twenty Questions
Ask a series of questions to determine which piece of art your teammate has secretly chosen.

Story Circle
Work as a team to invent unique and creative stories about artworks from our collection.

Verbal Drawing
Use descriptive words to describe a work of art while your partner draws using only your clues (no peeking at the art until the end!)

Prefer to skip the games and work independently? Make your own mini sketch book for free drawing in the galleries or borrow one of our story books and a cushion to read among the art.

Special PMA Films screening
During April school vacation week (April 18-23), PMA Films shows The Iron Giant Signature Edition in special afternoon screenings that are free for kids 14 and under.

Families will always find welcoming staff and worlds to explore at the Portland Museum of Art, but PMA Family Days are uniquely devoted to those with young children. Come when you want, and stay as long as you want. Let’s have some fun.
