Draw up a storm at the “Art Cart” during Free Fridays at the Portland Museum of Art.

Designed for all ages, the PMA Art Cart encourages visitors to sit and draw in the galleries, finding inspiration on the walls around them!

The PMA Art Cart is a fun, drop-in art program. Designed for all ages, the PMA Art Cart encourages visitors to sit and draw in the galleries, finding inspiration on the walls around them! Every time, the PMA Art Cart will be in a different gallery, where visitors can explore the permanent collection.

You can visit the Art Cart free on Friday evenings from 5:00pm-7:00pm (the museum is open until 9:00pm), made possible through the generous support of L.L.Bean and Patricia and Cyrus Hagge.

The PMA provides families with the tools to experience the museum, navigate the gallery spaces like the PMA Family Space: Design Lab and the PMA Art Cart, and try out unique approaches to looking at the art in our collections. We invite your family to discover, explore, learn, and be curious!

Stop and Look stations, located in galleries throughout the PMA, are equipped with iPods, cards with questions and facts about artwork, and interactive learning tools. Family Voices cell phone tour features children in conversation with their parents, discussing works in the museum’s collection.
